When attempting to run zapm on the only windows box in the house (i'm normally a linux user) it fails. It's 64 bit win7 home, and I get the following error message.

C:\path\to\ZAPM\zapm.exe
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your
computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x65 (64-bit) version of the
program, and then contact the software publisher.

I get a similar message when running it from cmd.exe as well. I've tried changing the .exe properties to run in win95/win98/winxp emulations to no avail. Are there any intentions of either a 64 bit zapm for windows, or are there any workarounds for those of us running 64 bit windows 7? While I'm content to run my roguelikes on linux, I like having them on windows too so I can kill time during/between classes without having to reboot into another operating system. I love the nostalgia and puerile humour of zapm. It's a great game to make me feel like a teenage computer geek again. :)

(sorry for the late reply)

I've looked into this and the problem is I compiled the 0.6.2 version using DJGPP which uses a
16 bit DOS run-time library.

Anyways, the WIN32 port of 0.8.2 is in progress! I have it running, actually, but there's a few bugs I need to resolve before release. So hang in there!

The Windows port is ready! I built it on a 64bit Windows 7 system, but I believe it should run on any wintel system back to Windows 2000.
